In the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) rapidly growing luxury travel industry, an increasing number of wealthy vacationers are opting to include their pets in their travel plans, leading to the rise of several new travel firms catering to VIP clientele and their animal companions. These companies aim to provide a secure, stress-free travel experience for pets, allowing them to travel in the cabin alongside their human companions.
UAE-based airlines Royal Air and Rotana Jet have reported that a number of clients charter private jets in order to travel comfortably with their pets, while Sit ‘n Stay Global, an international company launched by corporate flight attendants, provides a full range of pet-oriented travel services. These include safety precautions such as pet oxygen masks and harnesses, as well as catered in-flight meals served with the same luxurious flair that would be expected for a first-class passenger. Carol Martin, Sit ‘n Stay’s co-founder, estimates that approximately half of the firm’s clients choose to fly private solely to ensure their pets’ comfort.
Assisting affluent clients an average of four times per month for $600 per day, the firm serves a number of travelers from the UAE. Mrs. Martin credits this customer base with providing some of Sit ‘n Stay’s more exotic animal clients, which have included falcons and goats.
